Fly Tying Hooks
›
Daiichi 1870 Gary Borger Larva Hook 25/Pk.
Overview:
This is an improved version of the swimming nymph hook and it features 2X-heavy wire. The gentle york bend facilitates the use of beads for bead head nymphs. The design of this hook is truly unique because the eye of the hook is lower than the spear and point of the hook. As a fly rides upright in the water it allows for a better jigging action when the fly is retrieved with short, jerking motions. Larger sizes give lifelike appearances to leeches, crayfish, and stonefly nymphs.
The hooks are made of the finest high-carbon steel, which is hardened and tempered to an exacting formula that makes for a long point life and a very strong hook. Daiichi hooks use a 12-degree constant taper ground needle point. This eliminates irregularities in shape, assuring no weak spots, and gives amazing speed of penetration.
